Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a flame detector which has high decision accuracy, by a method wherein, by using a photoelectric coverting element having peak sensitivity at a different wavelength, a flame temperature is determined from an output ratio of each wavelength, and by using a threshould depending upon the flame temperature, point extinguishment of flame is decided. CONSTITUTION:A photo signal emitted from flame is sent to a photoelectric amplifying part 5 by means of an optical fiber head 3 and an optical fiber 4 for relay. In the amplifying part, by using a photoelectric converting element having spectral-response characteristic having peak in visual and near infrared rays, conversion into an electric signal is effected, and only an AC component thereof is extracted. A threshold set part 10 is provided for setting a flame identification threshold depending upon the temperature of flame by using a ratio between outputs AC1 and AC2 produced after the AC component of each wavelength from the photoelectric converting amplifying part 5 is forced to pass a band-pass filter part 6. By effecting comparison with a signal level entering a flame identification part based on the threshold, decision on ignition and extinguishment of a burner is effected. By setting threshold for identify ignition and extinguishing of a burner flame according a change in a combustion state occasioned by a change in a load and variation of a kind of fuel, precision of a flame detector can be maintained.
