Abstract

PURPOSE:To let an amount of required cooling water run through a water passage by forming the vicinity of an intake of a water pipe into such a structure that makes the spot generate a pumping action, in case of a bearing cooling device which installed the water pipe in a working fluid steam space of a turning shaft heat pipe. CONSTITUTION:A structure, generating a pump action, is installed in and around an intake 18 of a water pipe 17. That is, a ring water guide 21 is installed in the inner circumference of an upper cover 11 covering a water passage 19, while an impeller 22 generating the pumping action with its rotation is installed in the outer circumference of a turning shaft 6 as opposed to this water guide 21. In this structure, if the turning shaft 6 is rotated, this impeller 22 is also rotated, but the pumping action is generated between this impeller 22 and the water guide 21 attached to the inner circumference of the turning shaft (turning shaft heat pipe) 6, whereby a water leakage staying in the water passage 19 is fed to the intake 18 of the turning shaft 6 with pressure. Consequently, the leakage is fed to the water pipe 17 by dint of the hydraulic pressure and, after flowing through, it is discharged to the side of a conduit 16 from a drain port 20.
