Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce a porous hollow yarn membrane excellent in membrane characteristics by kneading polypropylene with an organic filler and a crystal nucleating agent good in dispersibility at the time of melting the polypropylene, melt spinning the resultant kneaded mixture into the shape of a hollow yarn, then bringing the melt spun yarn into contact with a cooling solidifying liquid having a specified specific heat capacity and subsequently carrying out an extracting treatment of the filler and the cooling solidifying liquid. CONSTITUTION: Polypropylene and an organic filler and a crystal nucleating agent uniformly dispersible in a molten state of the polypropylene are kneaded and then melt spun with an annular spinneret. The discharged material is then brought into contact with polyethylene glycol having 0.3-0.7 cal/g specific heat capacity without compatibility with the organic filler, cooled and solidified. The resultant material is subsequently treated with an azeotropic mixture of 1,2,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane with ethanol or acetone dissolving the filler and the cooling solidifying liquid without dissolving the polypropylene to extract and remove the filler and the cooling solidifying liquid. Thereby, a porous hollow yarn membrane excellent in membrane characteristics is obtained.
