Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance and to prevent the degradation in exchange bond by coating a metallic layer on a protective layer on the side opposite to an incident light of reading out light. CONSTITUTION:An under coating layer 2, a reading out layer 3 having low coercive force and high Curie temp., a recording layer 4 having high coercive force and low Curie temp., the protective dielectric layer 5 and the metallic layer 7 are successively laminated on a substrate 1a for writing; further, a substrate 1b for protection is stuck thereon by an adhesive layer 6, by which this recording medium is constituted. The metallic layer 7 is not required to be particularly nonmagnetic as there is the protective dielectric layer 5. A metal which is better in corrosiveness to oxygen and moisture than the recording layer 4 and the reading out layer 3 is used. The corrosion resistance over the entire part of the medium is, therefore, enhanced and the infiltration route of oxygen, etc., is effectively shut off. The corrosion resistance is thereby improved and the degradation in the exchange bond is prevented.
