Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the water of paper with high accuracy by providing 1st and 2nd mirrors, moving the paper between the 1st and 2nd mirrors, and reflecting diffused light from the paper repeatedly between the 1st and 2nd mirrors and detecting the quantity of the diffused light. CONSTITUTION:The 1st mirror 40 is provided in an integrating sphere 10 and the 2nd mirror 50 is provided outside; and they are arranged oppositely to each other via the opening 1 of the integrating sphere 10. Then the paper 3 is moved between the 1st and 2nd mirrors 40 and 50 as shown by an arrow Y. Then light from a light source 60 is passed through the hole 51 of the 2nd mirror to irradiate the paper 3. The diffused light which passes through the paper 3 is reflected by the 1st mirror 40 and further reflected by the 2nd mirror 50. Thus, the diffused light which is reflected repeatedly by the 1st and 2nd mirrors 40 and 50 rotates bit by bit, and the integrating sphere 10 allows signal light to be detected by a photodetector 21 and reference light is photodetected by a photodetector 31. The light quantity ratio of the signal light and the reference light is found, and consequently the unstableness of components is corrected. Thus, the diffused light from the paper is reflected repeatedly by the 1st and 2nd mirrors, so the moisture of the paper is measured with high accuracy without reference to its kind.
