Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure an objective material with high sensitivity by a spectrochemical analyzing equipment which utilizes an evanescent wave by sending light to a density sensor element made of a photoconductive medium layer containing a material to be detected, and measuring light exiting from it. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductor 2 containing the material to be detected is provided on a plane transparent synthetic resin plate 1. This photoconductor 2 in use is transparent and contains the material to be detected uniformly and, for example, polyacrylamide is used; and said material uses thymol blue when said material is ammonia, and glucose oxidase is used when said material is glucose, etc. Then when a measurement is taken, the material is brought into contact with the photoconductor 2 and then diffused in the photoconductor 2. Then light 6 from a laser 7 is made incident on the photoconductor 2 and propagated therein, and its projection light is photodetected by a photodetecting element 8. The light output of the photodetecting element 8 is detected and the concentration of the material is measured. The material is therefore incorporated in the photoconductor, so the measurement is performed with high sensitivity and the device can be reduced in size.
