Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the traveling direction of an automobile instantaneously and accurately without being affected by vibration by detecting the set reference rotary position of a rotary shaft which rotates at a constant speed and finding time intervals of specific waveform positions such as peaks of the output signal of a coil fitted on the rotary shaft while crossing a magnetic field of terrestrial magnetism. CONSTITUTION:The rotary shaft 7 is fitted on a case 2 made of a nonmagnetic material vertically through bearings 2 and 3 and driven at the constant speed by a motor 4 through gears 5 and 6. Movable-side outputs of coils 10 and 11 fitted on the haft 7 axially symmetrically through horizontal arms 8 and 9 are led out to fixed sides by the signal lead-out mechanism 14 consisting of slip rings 121-123 and brushes 131-133. Then a projection 15 provided on the shaft 7 in the direction of the arm 8 cuts off the light of a photosensor 16 through the rotation of the shaft 7, whose reference rotary position is detected 17. The output signals of those coils 10 and 11 are processed 18 and a microcomputer 19 finds the direction from the processing signal and the reference position signal of the shaft 7.
