Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a plant body of Perilla family important as a herb plant in high efficiency, by proliferating and culturing a constituting part of a Perilla family plant using a tissue culture method. CONSTITUTION:A constituting part including a shoot apex, axially bud and/or node is collected from the seedling, young plant or grown plant of a Perilla family plant such as Perilla nankinensis or Perilla futescens var. crispa and a thrust into a medium prepared by immersing a plant-culture base composed of polysaccharides and/or clay mineral in a tissue culture medium, containing nitrogen source, phosphate source, potassium salt, etc. The plant part is cultured at 5-40 deg.C, preferably 20-30 deg.C for 2-5 weeks while irradiating with light such as sunlight at an illuminance of >=1,000 lux, preferably 2,000-3,000 lux for 16-24hr per 24hr. A young plant obtained by the above culture process is transplanted to a base for plant cell and subjected to growing culture to obtain a grown plant.
