Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate control of a charge quantity of a toner by forming as a carrier coating agent a polymer layer to be charged to a positive or negative polarity by friction with the toner. CONSTITUTION:The polymer layer to coat the surface of the carrier has positive or negative triboelectrifiability at the time of friction with the toner. Accordingly, when the toner is stirred, the polymer layer coating the surface of the carrier comes into friction with the toner and is charged by the friction, and the toner is also charged to the reverse polarity, and when the selected polymer material is situated in the upper triboelectrification series in relation to the toner, it is charged positively, and when the polymer material in the lower series is selected, it is charged negatively, thus permitting the charge quantity of the toner to be controlled.
