Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance of the inside surface layer of a clad steel pipe, the inside surface layer of which consists of an austenitic stainless steel, and the mechanical properties of the outside layer thereof by subjecting the inside surface layer to a soln. heat treatment by high-frequency induction heating of a specific frequency and heating the steel products of the outside surface to a separately different hardening temp. CONSTITUTION:The clad steel pipe 1, the inside surface layer of which consists of the austenitic stainless steel and the outside surface consists of a carbon steel, is produced by producing the steel pipe of a clad material consisting of the austenitic stainless steel and the carbon steel. While this clad steel pipe 1 is conveyed in an arrow direction by conveying rollers 5, a high-frequency coil 2 is inserted into the inside of the steel pipe 1 and only the stainless steel on the inside surface is subjected to the induction heating to 1,050-1,150 deg.C by the high frequency above 1,000Hz, by which the alloy components such as Cr and Ni are subjected to the soln. heat treatment. The outside surface layer is subjected to the low-frequency induction heating of about 60Hz by the coil 3 and is thereby heated to 920-980 deg.C. The soln. heat treatment of the inside surface stainless steel is completed by water cooling with a cooler 4. The carbon on the outside surface is subjected to the hardening treatment. The clad steel pipe having the excellent corrosion resistance on the inside surface consisting of the stainless steel and the excellent strength and toughness on the outside surface consisting of the carbon steel is thus obtd.
