Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a medical tube excellent in patency and especially suitable for artificial blood vessels having medium and small diameters, by providing a large number of pores specific in an opening diameter and a depth to the inner cavity surface thereof of the medical tube.
CONSTITUTION: A medical tube has a large number of pores having an opening diameter and depth of 20W100μm over the whole or a part of the inner cavity surface thereof. As the constitutional material of the tube, a high-molecular compound excellent in the compatibility with blood and bio-tissue, that is, not having acute and chromic toxicity, a pyrogenic property and a hemolytic property and generating no inflammation in circumferential tissue over a long period time after implantation is used. As the high-molecular compound, a polyurethane type polymer is pref. from the aspect of dynamical properties, stability in a living body and an antithrombogenic property. When the diameter and depth of pores is below 20μm, there is no effect for suppressing the growth of pannus at an anastomotic part and, when exceeding 100μm, the thrombus formed at the anastomotic part becomes much. Further, said pores are pref. uniformly present in large numbers so as to become at least 100 or more per 1cm2.
