Abstract

PURPOSE:To directly print with a light by employing a photosensitive substance to be easily melted by a light irradiation. CONSTITUTION:Paper is so charged so as to have reverse charge to fine photosensitive particles, and toner charged thereto is electrostatically uniformly scattered. An optical printer head has, for example, a halogen lamp as a writing light source and an LSC to be 2-frequency-driven made of an optical shutter of a liquid crystal. The LSC is opened to be exposed only on a part to be printed on the paper, a photosensitive substance is selectively photosensed, then heated to selectively melt the particles, the particles which are not melted are mechanically removed from the paper, slightly pressurized and fixed to form an image. When this is operated as a printer, printing quality and speed of approx. 4 sheets per min of printing speed of A4 size is obtained with 250 DPI of resolution. The writing mechanism may include a shutter in which smectic solution for the LCS or an optical printer head composed of an LED array.
