PURPOSE:To obtain a sensor device having high reliability at a low cost by measuring a photoabsorption from a DC component of a modulated light, at the time of measuring an AC current by utilizing a magneto-optical effect, and executing a temperature correction of the magneto-optical effect by a temperature change of the photoabsorption. CONSTITUTION:An optical system of an optical applied sensor device is constituted of a light source 101, optical fibers 102, 106, a polarizer 103, a magneto- optical crystal 104, an analyzer 105, and a photodetecting part 107. Also, A/D converters 108, 109 are connected to a CPU 122, and the optical intensity of a light source and the optical intensity of a modulated light are inputted to the CPU 122. Subsequently, a photoabsorption is calculated from a DC component from a value obtained by the A/D converter 108, and a temperature T0 of a sensor part is determined by a photoabsorption loss and a temperature dependent data of sensitivity stored in a ROM 120 and 121. Next, from a value of this temperature T0, a temperature change of the sensitivity is corrected, and the quantity to be measured, related to an AC component of the modulated light can be measured exactly.
