Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily and rapidly measure the heat quantity of a sample by measuring the temp. change when a sample and a reference material heated on the outside of a heat insulating container are brought into contact with each other in the insulating container. CONSTITUTION:The unknown sample 25 is housed in the insulating container 20 and a hot junction 24a of a sample measuring probe 24 is brought into contact therewith. The temp. is recorded by a measuring instrument 30 and the time until the temp. stabilizes thermally is waited. A reference measuring probe 21 is then connected via a selector switch 31 to a power supply 32 and a proper voltage is impressed on a resistance wire 21a on the outside of the container 20 to heat the reference material 22. The switch 31 is intermittently changed over at this time and the temp. of the material 22 is checked. The reference material 22 is housed into the container 20 and is brought into contact with the unknown sample 25 after confirmation is made that the material 22 is heated up to the desired temp. and is thermally stabilized. The temps. of the material 22 and the sample 25 are measured in this state by the reference measuring probe 21 and the sample measuring probe 24. While the temps. are recorded in the measuring instrument 30, the time until the temps. attain the thermal equil. is waited. The temp. is interpreted from the recorded values and the specific heat of the unknown sample 25 is determined.
