Abstract
PURPOSE: To suppress characteristic variation due to temperature variation by connecting two rectangular waveguides to two output terminals respectively, providing posts in parallel to the E surfaces of the rectangular waveguides from the centers of the H surfaces at a distance of electric length π/2 from a short-circuit plate, and turning on and off two diodes at the same time.
CONSTITUTION: A signal inputted to the input terminal 1 of a short-slot type hybrid 9 is distributed into waves which are equal in amplitude and different in phase by π/2 with each other, and they are outputted to output terminals 10 and 11. Then when a diode 5a conducts, an output wave is reflected completely at the position where the diode 5a is installed and returns to the output terminal 10 again. Then when the diode 5a is off to the wave outputted to the output terminal 10, the output wave passes through the diode 5a and is reflected by the short-circuit plate 13 to return to the output terminal 10. Then the modulating signal is inputted to the input terminal 16 of a distributor 15, distributed into two by the distributor 15, and applied to the diodes 5a and 5b synchronously to impose two-phase modulation. Further, the short-slot type hybrid is made of metal, so the characteristic variation with ambient temperature can be suppressed.
