Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain piezoelectric porcelain, characteristics of which are hardly deteriorated by a thermal shock cycle, by thermally treating the piezoelectric porcelain, to which polarization is executed, in a short time at a temperature close to the Curie point.
CONSTITUTION: Approximately 0.5% MnO2 is added to a Pb-Ti-Zr oxide, one part of which is replaced with La, Ni or W, and sintered, and a DC electric field at 4kV/mm is applied for thirty sec at 80°C and polarization treatment is executed. The polarized mixture is aged, and thermally treated for five or ten sec in air at 290°C extremely close to the Curie point. Demagnetization is performed by the treatment, and a coupling coefficient is lowered slightly, but piezoelectric porcelain displaying characteristics stable to a thermal shock cycle are acquired.
