Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a sound distortion, by setting an ampli tude limiting level in accordance with the signal level of an input signal and performing amplitude limiting on the input signal by using the set amplitude limiting level. CONSTITUTION:The amplitude limiting level of a noise limiter 8a is changed in accordance with the level of input signals and, when no signal is inputted, noise is removed. When a large signal is inputted, on the other hand, the signal is outputted as it is without performing any amplitude limiting. Since the ampli tude limiting level is set at the maximum level of received signals, it is desirable to set the resistance values of resistances R12 and R13 at the same value. There fore, the sound distortion and noises at the time of no signal, which are pro duced in conventional receivers, can be removed and the S/N of detected low-fre quency signals can be improved over the level range of input signals from no signal to a large signal. Thus unpleasant feeling to the operator of this limiter can be prevented.
