Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent air from entering a device and to measure carbon content immediately by sucking mixed liquid into a reactor from an extractor only when the reactor is cooled. CONSTITUTION:A flow passage is formed of a small-diameter pipe 18 and a large-diameter pipe 19 between the reactor 12 and extractor 17 and a check valve 20 which allows fluid to flow only from the extractor 17 to the reactor 12 is interposed in the large-diameter pipe 19. Then when the carbon content is measured, the mixed liquid is supplied from the reactor 12 to the extractor 17 through the small-diameter pipe 18 and when the reactor 12 is cooled at the end of the carbon content measuring operation, sample liquid is sucked into the reactor 12 from the extractor 17 through the large-diameter pipe 19 and check valve 20. Consequently, outside air is prevented from entering the device through the seal part of a pressure applying means 10. Further, when the carbon content begins to be measured, idling operation for discharging the air in the reactor 12 is minimized and the measuring operation for the carbon content is performed immediately.
