Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the extent of partial wear in a tire by forming a curved or flat notch in an upper edge at a lateral side face adutting on a horizontal groove of the block formed by both vertical and horizontal grooves, in a ground plane of a tread. CONSTITUTION:Each of blocks 7 and 7A-7C is formed on a tread surface 2 by vertical grooves 4 and horizontal grooves 6(6A-6C). Notches 9A and 9B nothed chamferedly with a circular arc of a radius (d) are formed in each upper edge of lateral sides SA and SB of these blocks 7A and 7B. The radius (d) of these nothes 9A and 9B is set to 10-40% of depth (h) of the horizontal groove 6. Otherwise, it may be notched aslant in place of the circular notch. In addition, a radius of the operated side notch 9A in these circular notches can be made smaller than that of the kick-out side notch 9B. Thus, partial wear in a tire is preventable.
