Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide optimum power supply to be used for memory backup by using a neg. electrode having a specific potential with respect to metal lithium. CONSTITUTION:In a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery with a polyaniline positive electrode 7 and a carbon negative electrode 4, which is formed by doping and dedoping lithium ions or occluding and releasing them, a negative electrode 4 is used, whose potential is nobler than 0.26V at 20 deg.C to lithium metal 5. When a material is used with which the neg. electrode 4 potential is nobler than 0.26V with respect to metal lithium 5 as reference electrode, insert reaction of lithium ions to the pos. electrode 7 can be avoided, and eventual performing of 0V long-time overdischarging does not raise any problem to subsequent charging/discharging. This accomplishes optimum battery for power supply to be used in memory backup.
