Abstract

PURPOSE:To monitor the cooling in an extractor, by providing a temp. sensor to the specimen flow system reaching an infrared analyser from the extractor and comparing the output of said sensor with a reference value and outputting an abnormality detection signal when said output exceeds the reference value. CONSTITUTION:A reaction liquid is added to a liquid specimen and both of them are sent to a reactor 10 through a degassing device 6 where the org. carbon in the liquid specimen is oxidized to generate carbon dioxide. The generated carbon dioxide is extracted with inert gas in an extractor 11 and further dehumidified by a dehumidifier 13 to be supplied to an infrared analyser 18. When the flow of cooling water through a pipe 16 - an outside container 15 - a pipe 17 stagnates by any cause, the temp.of the extractor 11 and that of the dehumidifier 13 rise. The detection values of temp. sensors 19, 20 are compared with a reference value in a control circuit 21 and, when each of the detection value exceeds the reference value, the supply of the liquid specimen and the heating of the reactor 10 are stopped and abnormality is informed by a lamp 22.
