Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce damage due to abnormality in switching with detection of the switching abnormality in a short time, by transmitting light by an arc discharge generated at the changing of a tap outside a changeover switch as optical signal with an optical fiber to monitor abnormality in switching.
CONSTITUTION: Light by arc 13 generated at the changing of a tap travels into an optical fiber 14 and is transmitted outside a changeover switch 2 as optical signal through an optical fiber cord 15. The optical signal is converted with a converter into an electrical signal and transmitted to a monitor after being converted to digital from analog. This digital signal is compared with an electrical signal at the normal time previously inputted with a microcomputer provided on the monitor to study. When abnormality is identified, a transformer is stopped to inform outside of abnormality. When normal operation is identified the monitoring is continued.
