Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a superconductor excellent in its superconducting performance in superconduction transition temperature and the like by forming it with a bundle of specified fiberous superconducting ceramic members. CONSTITUTION:A superconductor is formed in a bundle form with fiberous superconducting ceramic members represented by a formula I-(alpha1-xBax)zCuO4-y, wherein alpha is an element chosen among Y, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu, and the relation among x, y and z is 0<x<1, 0<=y<=2, 0.5<=z<=3. Namely the superconducting ceramic members are formed in a extremely thin fiber form having thicknesses of about 4-30mum with a purpose to minimize the intrusion of magnetic flux to the superconductor to restain generation of heat, and to reduce the intrusion speed to restain heat per unit time, and further to improve cooling effect to stabilize the superconducting performance. The superconducting ceramic members of 1000-5000 wires or so are further set in a bundle. As a result, it is possible to obtain a superconductor having excellent superconducting performance in superconduction transition temperature and the like as well as higher strength, and being suitable for the use when power loss problem occurs.
