Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve a highly accurate detection, by providing a moving slit section with an auxiliary moving slit to obtain the amount of signals other than '0' and '1'.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary disc 1 is provided integral at the upper end of a rotating shaft 2 provided rotatably on a bearing 11 as the moving plate having a rotary slit 1a as the moving slit. A circuit board 13 having a processing circuit section 12 is provided above the disc 1. A light emitting section 4 is provided on the undersurface of the circuit board 13. A light receiving section 7 is provided below the disc 1 through a stationary slit plate 6 and an output signal thereof 7 is applied to a processing circuit section 12. The rotary slit 1a has an auxiliary rotary slit 1aA formed as auxiliary moving slit with the width thereof sufficiently smaller than the width W of the slit 1a. Signals other than '1' and '0' are obtained with the passage of light through the slit 1aA.
