Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled high-purity compound having excellent antibacterial action useful for medical purposes under a mild condition selectively and in high yield, by reacting a novel compound with piperazine and decomposing the prepared compound. CONSTITUTION:A novel compound shown by formula I [X1-X4 are halogen; R1 is lower alkyl, halogeno lower alkyl, cycloalkyl or (substituted)phenyl; Y is F or lower alkylcarboxyloxy] obtained by reaction between 1- cyclopropyl-5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-1,4-dihydro-4-oxoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid and borohydrofluoric acid is reacted with a piperazine shown by formula II (R2-R4 are H or lower alkyl) in an inert solvent such as ethanol is the presence of an acid acceptor such as triethylamine at 10-150 deg.C for 30min-3hr to form a compound shown by formula III, which is decomposed with an acid or a base in a hydrous solvent at 10-150 deg.C to give the aimed compound shown by formula IV.
