Abstract
PURPOSE:To cope with the abrupt variation of atmospheric pressure during travelling within a tunnel while maintaining the air tightness of a compartment by using a Roots fan consisting of two bar-like rotors having a cocoon for three-leaf shaped section for a new charge fan or exhaust fan of a air tight car body. CONSTITUTION:New charging Roots fans 5 are provided on ceilings of both ends of an air tight car body 2 to introduce fresh air from the atmosphere 4 and sent it to a mixing chamber 16. The fresh air in the mixing chamber 16 is mixed with circulated air introduced through an indoor filter 11 from a compartment 3, cooled by a fan 7 of an air conditioner and an evaporator 8, then sent into a ceiling blast duct 9 and sent to the compartment 3 through a ceiling grill 10. On the other hand, air in the compartment of the same amount as the fresh air is then discharged to the atmosphere by exhaust Roots fans 6 provided under the floor of both ends of car body 2. The respective Roots fans 5, 6 are provided with two cocoon-shaped rotors 1, 2 having projections engaged by mating recesses, respectively.
