Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive simplification of a process for providing a protective film and enable effective prevention of sticking, by incorporating a highly heat- resistant chlorinated 4-methylpentene-1 polymer and/or chlorinated maleic acid- modified 4-methylpentene-1 polymer into the protective layer, in a thermal transfer recording sheet. CONSTITUTION:A heat-fusible transfer ink layer is provided on one side of a plastic film base, and a protective layer (backing layer) is provided on the other side. The protective layer comprises a chlorinated 4-methylpentene-1 polymer obtained by a method wherein a crystalline 4-methylpentene-1 polymer having a melt index of 8-300g/10min under the conditions of 260 deg.C and 5kg/cm<2> and/or a copolymer comprising 4-methylpentene-1 as a main constituent monomer together with other alpha-olefin monomer is chlorinated in a solution condition to a chlorine content of at least 50wt.%. In place of the chlorinated 4- methylpentene-1 polymer, a chlorinated maleic acid-modified 4-methylpentene-1 polymer may be used which is obtained by chlorinating a maleic acid-modified 4-methylpentene-1 copolymer in a solution condition to a chlorine content of at least 50wt.%.
