Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit the pressing expansion of a pipe smoothly without any unnatural enforcement, by a method wherein the expansion of the pipe as well as an adhesive coating on the inner surface of a pipeline are effected while heating the pipe by a tubular heater from the outside of the pipe simultaneously with the heating of the pipe from the inside thereof under compression. CONSTITUTION:When a plastic pipe 1 is heated by a heating pig 2 and a tubular heater 5, the pipe 1 is heated uniformly in the direction of the thickness thereof by the heating from inside and outside of the same whereby the whole of the pipe 1 can be heated and softened uniformly. When the pig 2 and the tubular heater 5 are moved toward the terminal end of a pipeline while supplying pressurized fluid from a supplying part 10 into the diameter expanding part 1a of the pipe 1 and holding a predetermined pressure in the diameter expanding part 1a, the plastic pipe 1 is expanded as the heating pig 2 is moved and, simultaneously, the pipe 1 is expanded sufficiently and surely without generating any crack or the like by receiving the internal pressure of the pipe whereby the plastic pipe 1 becomes an expanded pipe 1' and is adhered to the inner surface of the pipeline (a) to coat the same.
