Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve detecting precision without being affected by the characteristic of an electric motor by allowing a control means to energize the electric motor for a prescribed time and judging a cloth quantity in a tank by the number of pulses from a pulse generating means and an amplitude value from an amplitude detecting means within an off period just after the energization. CONSTITUTION: The circuit of a cloth detector is obtained by connecting an AC power source 1 and the electric motor 2 which is driven by selectively switching a mixing wing and a washing/dehydrating tank and connecting a capacitor 3 between its main coil and an auxiliary coil. The terminal voltage of the capacitor 3 is half-waveformed and pulse waveforms different in pulse wavewidth are the output of a photodetective element 16. Then, this output signal is inputted to a counter 12 counting the number of pules and an A/D converter 13 converting the amplitude of the peak value to a digital value. A microcomputer 11 inputting the output signals of these counter 12 and A/C converter 13 judges the cloth quantity based on the number of pulses and amplitude attenuation information by the variation of its peak value. Consequently, even in a case when the number of the pulses is extremely small, the cloth quantity is precisely judged.
