Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a heat pump type air conditioner in which the reliability of a compressor is enhanced by storing heat in a heat storage tank through heat exchange with refrigerant in supercooled region passed through an indoor heat exchanger at the time of heating operation and utilizing the stored heat for defrosting while keeping high heating capacity. CONSTITUTION: A circuit 14 bypassing a capillary 4 is provided with a heat exchanger 15 having a heat storage tank arranged with a heat exchangeable heat storage material 19. Compressed refrigerant from a compressor 1 is utilized for heating in an indoor heat exchanger 3 and condensed and pressure thereof is dropped when passing through connection piping and a motor expansion valve 16. Heat is robbed from the material 19 by the heat exchanger 15 in a bypath 14 and used for defrosting by an outdoor heat exchanger 5 and the refrigerant is condensed and sucked through a four-way valve 2 into the compressor 1. Consequently, defrosting can be ended in a short time even if the heating capacity is high.
