Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the durability and corrosion resistance of a magnetic recording medium packed with a Co-Ni alloy in the fine pores of an anodic oxide layer by confining the axial ratio of the Co-Ni alloy particles to a specific value or below and the average diameter of the particles and the thickness of the particles within the ranges of respectively determined values. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic recording medium is formed by packing the Co-Ni alloy into the fine pores of the anodic oxide layer formed by anodizing the surface of Al or Al alloy. The side faces of the Co-Ni alloy particle 1 are coated by the hard and dense anodic oxide layer 3 and the particles are formed on a nonmagnetic substrate 5 consisting of an aluminum or synthetic resin film, etc. The axial ratio of the Co-Ni alloy particles packed into the fine pores is <=30. The particle sizes are >=100Angstrom and <=1,000Angstrom average diameter of the particles. The particles are formed in the range of >=500Angstrom and <=30mum particle thickness.
