Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a thin high coercive force film to serve as a magneto- resistance effect element (MR element) parts with good reproducibility and to improve the contact resistance to leads by forming the lead part connected to the magneto-resistance effect element by lamination of a thin ferromagnetic film and the thin high coercive force film.
CONSTITUTION: A 1st insulating layer 2 consisting of SiO, SiO2, etc., is formed on a substrate 11 consisting of an NiZn ferrite substrate, etc., and a conductor layer 3 is formed on this insulating layer 2. The conductor layer 3 is then worked by a dry etching method, etc., to a desired shape and the thin ferromagnetic film 5 to serve as the MR element is formed via a 2nd insulating layer 4 covering the conductor layer 3. The thin ferromagnetic film 5 is worked to the shapes of the MR element part 5a and the lead parts 5b, 5c. The thin high coercive force film Co-P, etc., 6 are electroless plated on the lead parts 5b, 5c. Since the Co-P plating film covers the wide area of the lead parts, the Co-P plating layer is formed with the good reproducibility. The contact area of the NiFe alloy film and the Co-P plating film is large. The contact resistance is thereby lowered to a neglible level.
