Conventionally, in an electric water heater using a ceramic heater as a heating element, the heating surface of the ceramic heater was installed within a container without any partition plate. Therefore, the total amount of water in the container becomes a heat load on the ceramic heater, and in other words, the load on the amount of heat generated by the ceramic heater increases, so the temperature of the ceramic heater itself becomes higher than the temperature of the water to be heated. Therefore, a large thermal shock is applied to the ceramic heater, resulting in a drawback that cracks are likely to occur in the ceramic heater.

This invention was made in order to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks, and by covering the top of the ceramic heater with a cover, the thermal capacity of the load to be borne by the ceramic heater is limited, and the temperature of the ceramic heater is reduced. It is an object of the present invention to provide a heater that can reduce the difference in temperature between the ceramic heater and the surrounding fluid and reduce damage to the ceramic heater due to thermal shock.

In FIG. 1, 1 is an electric water heater, 2 is a heating container, and 3 is, for example, a disk-shaped ceramic heater fixed to the bottom of the heating container 2 at an appropriate interval. The upper surface of the ceramic heater 3 serves as the main heating surface.

The heater cover 4 has a generally inverted dish shape as shown in FIGS. 2 to 6, and has a plurality of gaps 7 formed in the radial direction on its ceiling surface 6, through which the inside and outside of the room 5 are connected. Allows water to circulate.

As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, this gap 7 is formed by cutting the ceiling surface 6 along a line in the radial direction and bending a part of it downward to form steps 9, 9'. It is composed of

In addition, a plurality of openings 10 are formed on the side circumferential surface of the heater cover 4, and a tongue piece 11 is bent inward at a part of the side circumferential surface so that the free end faces upward. ing. When this heater cover 4 is placed over the ceramic heater 3, the side peripheral inner surface of the heater cover 4 comes into close contact with the outer surface of the ceramic heater 3, and the free end of the tongue piece 11 is elastically pressed against the lower surface of the peripheral edge of the ceramic heater 3. engage with

When a predetermined amount of water is stored in the heating container 2 as described above and heated by energizing the ceramic heater 3, the water in the chamber 5 is heated by the heat.
Note that water flows into the chamber 5 through the opening 7 of the heater cover 4. In this case, since the volume of chamber 5 is small, the heat capacity of the water in chamber 5 is also relatively small, and therefore,
The water in the chamber 5 is rapidly heated to a temperature close to that of the ceramic heater 3. Note that the heated water flows into the heating container 2 through another opening 7, and instead, low-temperature water flows into the chamber 5 to heat the water in the heating container 2.

If the heating state is represented graphically, Figures 7 and 8
The result will be as shown in the figure. That is, it can be understood that due to the presence of the heater cover 4, the water temperature within the heater cover 4 rises rapidly following the rise in the heater surface temperature immediately after the heater 3 is energized, and the thermal shock to the heater 3 is reduced.

Note that FIG. 7 is a graph when the heater cover is present, and A is the surface temperature of the heater 3 and B is the water temperature inside the heater cover 4. FIG. 8 is a graph without a heater cover, where A' is the heater surface temperature and B' is the water temperature around the heater. Further, since the opening 10 is formed, air bubbles generated on the back surface of the ceramic heater are quickly released from the opening 10.

As described above, this invention provides a heater cover on the ceramic heater to reduce the heat capacity applied to the ceramic heater, thereby rapidly heating the fluid around the ceramic heater, and thereby increasing the contact between the heating surface of the ceramic heater and the fluid. Since the temperature difference is reduced, cracks in the ceramic heater, breakage of the heater, etc. can be prevented, and the life of the ceramic heater can be extended. In addition, the heater cover having a predetermined internal volume can be covered above the ceramic heater, and the ceiling surface of the heater cover is provided with openings for liquid circulation consisting of multiple gaps extending in the radial direction, which provides the above effects. This has the advantage that by discharging the liquid in the heater cover heated by the heater from the ceiling of the cover, the temperature of the liquid in the container can be raised to quickly follow the temperature of the ceramic heater. Note that this idea is not limited to electric water heaters, but can also be applied to heaters for other fluids.
