In general, veneer boards cut from various precious woods are used as decorative veneers for overlays in order to take advantage of their unique color tone and wood texture, and are laminated onto base materials such as plywood, particle board, and hardboard.
It is used as a commercial grade decorative board suitable for general furniture, cabinets for electrical appliances, cabinets for kitchen appliances, etc.

However, when attaching a veneer to a corner or curved surface of a substrate such as furniture or architectural interiors that are not flat, the latent antireflection of the veneer can be avoided. The drawbacks were that the adhesive could not be firmly bonded due to the force of the adhesive, and that cracks and cracks occurred at the bent portions.

The present invention aims to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks and provide a method for producing a flexible veneer laminate that can be firmly adhered to corners or curved surfaces of a substrate to be adhered. A thin veneer is attached to a paper containing synthetic resin or rubber using an adhesive, then the adhered material is heated and pressed, and the surface of the veneer of the resulting laminate is painted. It is characterized by tanning the laminate.

The paper containing the synthetic resin or rubber used in the present invention can be obtained by impregnating the paper with a liquid containing the synthetic resin or rubber in water or an organic solvent, and then drying it by heating, for example. As the synthetic resin or rubber-containing liquid, it is preferable to use an emulsion in which a synthetic resin or rubber is dispersed in water, in view of the risk of ignition during the drying process and the working environment. As the synthetic resin or the like to be used, it is preferable to use flexible ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, acrylic resin, rubber, or the like, since this imparts flexibility to the resulting laminate.

To attach a thin veneer to paper treated with an emulsion such as a synthetic resin, for example, use a spreader to apply adhesive to the paper, and then affix the thin veneer to the coated surface. good. The thickness of the thin veneer board varies depending on the material type, but it is 0.15 to 0.4
The thickness is preferably on the order of mm, as it is technically difficult to obtain a veneer that is too thin and has poor strength, and if it is too thick, the flexibility of the resulting veneer laminate will be impaired. The moisture content in the veneer is 20
% or less; if the amount of moisture is too large, the veneer will shrink when it is hot-pressed, and gaps will likely form at the joints of the veneers. The adhesive used to attach the veneers is selected because it provides a flexible veneer laminate.
It is best to use rubber or acrylic adhesive.

The thus-obtained laminate in which a veneer is adhered to paper may be heat-pressed, for example, with a hot press, and after cooling, it may be painted. In the painting process, the surface of the veneer is sanded, then an undercoat is applied, and then a topcoat is applied. As the undercoat and topcoat, urethane, acrylic, and vinyl chloride paints are preferably applied because the veneer laminate will not become hard. The thickness of the coating film to be applied varies depending on the material of the veneer.
The thickness is preferably 0.02 mm to 0.1 mm; if the coating film is too thin, the strength of the veneer laminate will be insufficient when bent, and if it is too thick, the flexibility of the veneer laminate will be impaired. .

The veneer laminate thus coated can be tanned by a conventionally known method, such as by passing it through a roller.

The veneer laminate thus obtained can be used as a product as is, but a synthetic resin film such as vinyl chloride resin may be further overlaid on the top surface of the coating. By overlaying the vinyl chloride resin film in this manner, the strength of the veneer laminate when bent is further improved.

Example: Washi paper impregnated with an emulsion of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and dried by heating is coated with an acrylic resin adhesive, and a thin board with a moisture content of 17 to 18% with a thickness of 0.2 to 0.25 mm is applied to the coated surface. Glue by hand. Next, the paste of the Japanese paper and the veneer is heated and pressed using a hot press, and the resulting laminate is allowed to cool. After the laminate has cooled, the surface of the veneer is sanded, then a urethane or acrylic resin base coat is applied, and after the coating has dried, a urethane or acrylic resin top coat is applied. The total thickness of the top coat and base coat was 0.06 mm. The painted laminate is then passed through rolls for tanning. The obtained veneer laminate is extremely flexible, so even if it is attached to a corner or curved surface of a non-planar substrate, there will be no cracks or cracks on the veneer surface. It was possible to firmly adhere the film without causing any damage.

As described above, according to the manufacturing method of the present invention,
No cracks or cracks will occur on the surface of the veneer even when it is attached to corners or curved surfaces of the target substrate, and the repulsion force of the veneer is small when it is attached to the target substrate. A highly flexible veneer laminate that can be firmly adhered is obtained.
