入すると共に、上ガラス基板と下ガラス基板との
対向面にそれぞれ表示電極および対向電極を形成
し、下ガラス基板の下部に配した照明手段によつ
てネガ表示を行う透過型の液晶表示素子において
、表示パターン部と略対応する前記下ガラス基板
の外面側に、凹み状の屈折部を形成したことを特
