Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the wear of a scraper portion by forming annular grease grooves between the annular lips at both ends in the axial direction, and tapering a sliding surface of the scraper portion formed at either one of both annular lips sliding on a sliding member in such a manner that the sliding surface is diverged axially inwardly. CONSTITUTION:Annular lips 8 and 9 pressed on a sliding member 2 are formed at axial opposite ends of an annular packing 3 on a sliding surface side thereof. Main and auxiliary grease grooves 10, 11 and 12 are formed between both the annular lips 8 and 9. The annular lip 9 constitutes a scraper portion extending axially outwardly. A sliding surface 20 of the scraper portion 9 sliding on the sliding member 2 is so tapered as to be diverged axially inwardly. Accordingly, even under a compressed condition where the sliding surface 20 is in presscontact with the sliding member 2, the sliding surface 20 is diverged toward the auxiliary grease groove 12 to thereby ensure sufficient supply of grease to the sliding surface 20 and good lubrication.
