The present invention relates to a reciprocating internal combustion engine having a split piston ring having a groove formed in its running surface extending in a direction, and a cylinder running surface having a lubrication orifice formed therein.

For example, Kotsper's 8th edition "Engineer's Handbook for Piston Rings, Seal Rings, and Machine Shaft Seals" states on page 55 that a duct extending perpendicular to the piston ring axis and parallel to the axis A piston ring having a circumferential groove formed therein is described.

状態を検知することができない。 However, a drawback of such prior art is that the gas flow has to bend mechanically unfavorably when entering the circumferential groove, which results in a large loss of mechanical energy of the gas flow. The distribution of oil along the lines may be particularly poor. As a result, the circumferential oil distribution and cleaning of the circumferential grooves is insufficient, so that combustion residue accumulates in the grooves and the grooves quickly become clogged. Another drawback is that conventional piston rings do not permit determining the circumferential position of the piston ring relative to the piston or detecting the wear condition of the piston ring.

The objective is to provide an engine that enables detection.

The directional distribution as well as the cleaning to remove wear material and combustion residues in the piston ring grooves is sufficient.

However, because the conventional grooves are filled with non-magnetic solid material, they cannot be used for lubrication purposes in the present invention.

And also a vortex effect is additionally created which significantly improves the distribution of the oil within a particular circumferential direction with a certain predetermined slope.
