Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the diffusion of waste liquid such as drain and leak liquid from equipment and pipings and to assure a wide working space at the time of various works so that the entry of a vehicle for work is enabled by freely attachably and detachably providing a device for preventing diffusion of the waste liquid to the floor of a building. CONSTITUTION:The device 5 for preventing the diffusion of the waste liquid is attachably and detachably provided to the floor 1 around a hatch 2. The device 5 has a weir 7 fixed by means of lock bolts 6 onto an angle steel 10 of the floor 1 and sealants 8 to be interposed between the weir 7 and the floor 1. The weir 7 consists of the angle steel and is formed with apertures 7a for attachment and detachment of the bolts 6 in the upper part. The bolts 6 are twisted into embedding materials 9 embedded in the floor 1. Should the drains contg. a radioactive material be discharged from the equipment or piping or the liquid contg. the radioactive material be leaked, these waste radioactive liquids are shut off by the weir 7 and are prevented from arriving at the hatch 2. The sealing material 8 comes into tight contact with both the weir 7 and the floor 1 and prevents the leakage of the waste liquids from between the weir 7 and the floor 1. A cap plate 11 as a substitute for the weir 7 is fixed onto the angle steel 10 by means of the bolts 6 by which the flat floor surface is formed when the weir 7 is removed.

When the operation of a nuclear power plant is started and there is a risk of waste liquid such as drain or leakage from equipment or piping installed in the reactor building or turbine building, weir 7 should be closed as shown in Figure 1. It is fixed to the floor 1 with fixing bolts 6. If condensate containing radioactive substances is discharged from equipment or piping, or liquid containing radioactive substances leaks, these radioactive waste liquids will be blocked by the weir 7 and will not reach the hatch 2, etc. Also,
A sealing material 8 provided between the weir 7 and the floor 1 prevents radioactive waste liquid from leaking between the weir 7 and the floor 1. Therefore, radioactive waste liquid is prevented from diffusing through the entrances and exits of the hatch 2 and the like.
