Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the stress by permitting the basic edge part of an intake duct to be swung by projectingly installing each engagement part on the both side surfaces of a cylinder part installed projectingly onto an air cleaner and projectingly installing an engagement piece engaged at the engagement part onto the basic edge part of the intake duct covered by the cylinder part. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder part 22 is projectingly installed integrally on the front surface of a cover body which covers the upper opened port of an air cleaner body. An intake duct 23 made of rubber extending in the longitudinal direction of a car body is connected at the front edge part of the cylinder part 22 so that the basic edge part is covered. In this constitution, the right and left engagement parts 24 in pairs projecting sideways are installed projectingly on the both side surfaces of the cylinder part 22. While, the right and left engaging pieces 25 in pairs which are engaged at each engagement part 24 are projectingly installed rearwardly and integrally on the both sides at the basic edge part of the intake duct 23. Further, each engagement hole 26 for the insertion of each engagement part 24 is drilled on each engaging piece 25. Therefore, the basic edge part of the intake duct 23 is connected so as to be vertically swung for the cylinder part 22.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to a connection structure for an intake duct connected to an air cleaner of an engine mounted on a vehicle such as a motorcycle or a tricycle.

In air cleaners that are generally installed in engines,
In addition to the function of trapping dust in the air, it is also important to reduce the intake noise generated when air is sucked into the cylinder from leaking to the outside. For this reason, conventionally, a rubber air intake duct is formed into a long and narrow shape to narrow the sound outlet and enhance the silencing effect. In addition, for off-road vehicles that sometimes drive partially submerged in water, the intake ducts are lengthened and opened at a higher position to prevent water from being sucked in. That is, the intake duct is arranged in the front-rear direction of the vehicle body, and is connected to the air cleaner by fitting its base end onto a cylindrical portion protruding from the case of the air cleaner and tightening it with a band member.

However, in such a connection structure, since the intake duct is supported in a cantilevered manner, it is elastically deformed by vibrations, shocks, etc. accompanying the running of the vehicle, and the tip portion thereof swings in the vertical direction. For this reason, large tensile stress and compressive stress alternately and repeatedly occur in a portion that is fixed by the band member and is not elastically deformed, resulting in a problem that damage is likely to occur in this portion.

The present invention has been made in view of these circumstances, and provides an intake duct connection structure that can make the intake duct less likely to be damaged. In the intake duct connection structure according to the present invention, locking portions that protrude laterally are provided on both sides of the cylindrical portion protruding from the air cleaner, and locking portions are provided on both sides of the proximal end of the intake duct that is covered with the cylindrical portion. A locking piece that is locked to the locking portion is provided.

The postscript intake duct 23 extends upward from the cylindrical portion 22 in an arcuate shape when viewed from the side, and its tip is opened upward at the lower side of the front portion of the seat. Further, on both sides of the base end, a pair of left and right locking pieces 25 that are locked to the locking portion 24 are integrally provided to protrude rearward. Specifically, the locking piece 25 has an engagement hole 26 into which the locking part 24 engages, and the rear edge of the engagement hole 26 and the rear surface of the locking part 24 engage with each other. This prevents the proximal end of the intake duct from moving forward. On the other hand, the rearward movement of the proximal end of the intake duct is stopped by the front end of the cylindrical portion 22 coming into contact with a stepped portion 27 formed on the inner peripheral surface of the intake duct 23. Here, there is a slight tightening margin in the portion of the intake duct 23 into which the cylindrical portion 22 fits, and a certain degree of sealing performance is ensured.

The cross-sectional shape of the intake duct 23 is preferably such that the inner circumference thereof is slightly shorter than the outer circumference of the cylindrical portion 22 and the cross-sectional shape is closer to a circle than the cylindrical portion 22 in the natural state 61.

In the air cleaner in which the intake duct connection structure configured as described above is implemented, the intake duct 23 has its base end covered with the cylindrical part 22 of the lid body 21, and is moved rearward by holding the locking piece 25 with the hand. When the locking portion 24 is pulled to engage the locking portion 24 with the locking hole 26, movement in the front and back direction is locked and connected to the cylindrical portion 22. Therefore, the outside air flows through the intake duct 2
3 and filtered by the filter element 18 , and then sucked into the engine 6 via the air pipe 17 .

In addition, since the intake duct 23 is connected to the cylindrical portion 22 by locking both sides thereof, the intake duct 23
The base end portion of can swing vertically to some extent with respect to the cylindrical portion 22 using the locking portion 24 as a fulcrum. therefore,
Even if the tip of the intake duct 23 swings up and down due to vibrations and shocks caused by the running of the vehicle or vibrations of the engine, this swing of the tip can be absorbed by the swinging. As a result, compressive stress and tensile stress occurring at the proximal end can be reduced, making it less likely to be damaged compared to a conventional structure in which the proximal end is fixedly connected.

As explained above, according to the present invention, locking portions protruding laterally are provided on both sides of the cylindrical portion protruding from the air cleaner, and locking portions protruding laterally are provided on both sides of the proximal end of the intake duct that is covered with the cylindrical portion. Since the locking piece that is locked to the locking portion is provided, the base end portion of the intake duct can swing vertically to some extent with respect to the cylindrical portion.

Therefore, the proximal end can absorb the vibration of the distal end due to the rocking and reduce the stress generated at the proximal end, making it difficult for the intake duct to be damaged. Further, by locking the locking piece to the locking portion, the intake duct can be connected to the air cleaner, and no special tools are required, so there is an advantage that the connection work is facilitated.
