Abstract

PURPOSE:To mount and support a sensor stably and easily by so connecting a fore arm to an upper arm fixed to an internal mirror stay as to be freely rotatable via a spring, and pressing the sensor on the fore arm to a windshield via a ball and socket joint. CONSTITUTION:A mounting stay 10 for an internal mirror 15 is fitted to body structure via a cushion means 11. The upper end of an upper arm 21 for fitting and supporting a sensor 25 to detect light incident upon a windshield and a rain drop thereon is fitted to the stay 10. And the upper arm 21 is fitted with a fore arm 23 energized to turn freely with a spring 26 around a support pin 22. The sensor 35 is pressed to the windshield 1 and supported on the tip of the fore arm 23 via a ball and socket joint 24. The sensor 25 becomes free from resonance and can be fitted stably and easily, because of the connection thereof to the mirror mounting arm supported on the body structure via the cushion means as aforementioned.

2. Description of the Related Art A technology has been developed in which a sensor is installed in close contact with the windshield of an automobile, and the sensor detects the adhesion of raindrops to operate the wiper. It is also conceivable that the sensor detects light incident on the windshield of the automobile and switches the operation of the anti-glare mirror.
