Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a method which is suited to a small quantity variety goods production by allowing the required points of printing ink to be evaporated with a laser beam and providing a marking so that required characters or patterns may be cut out. CONSTITUTION:Solid printing is performed at the required parts of the barrel of a can container to be marked or the entire barrel. Further the printed part is baked, and printing ink is applied to the barrel of the container, and it is then dried. After this, the barrel coated with printing ink is sucked and fixed to a spindle 25. Next a mirror 36 is rotated by application of a serrated wave current to a galvanometer 35, and a laser beam is permitted to reflect by means of the mirror 36 fixed to the galvanometer 35, so that the laser beam is con densed on the surface of the barrel of the container. This allows the laser beam to scan the surface of the barrel along the center axial line of the barrel and to be projected to only the required part of printing ink applied as a solid printing to be evaporated form marking.

That is, the raw material plate 12 of the can body blank is produced from the roll of metal thin plate.
For example, as shown in FIG.
After printing the required characters or patterns, varnishing is applied, and after baking in an oven 22 or the like, a cutting machine 23 is used to perform offset printing.
The can body blank 13 is punched out by the can body blank 1.
3. Rolling, seaming, solder welding, or gluing is applied to form a can body, and a can bottom blank is wrapped around the can body using a seamer to form a can container. I was trying to do this.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] Both the above-mentioned flat printing and curved surface printing require the production of printing plates, that is, plate making, and the preparation for printing requires a lot of effort, so changing the characters or patterns requires a lot of effort and time. It had the disadvantage of requiring Furthermore, in order to depreciate the cost of plate making, it is necessary to manufacture a large number of cans with the same printing, which is not suitable for high-variety, low-volume production, and once printed cans are used for other purposes. It had some serious drawbacks.

Furthermore, in the method of forming a can body using a flat-printed can body blank such as the three-piece can described above, since printing is performed on a flat plate, accurate printing can be easily performed, but the can body blank After printing, the can body blank is subjected to post-processing processes such as bending and seam welding, so there is a risk of damaging the printed coating.
In addition, when printing on curved surfaces after can manufacturing, such as with two-piece cans, delicate adjustments are required for fixing the can body to the spindle, pressing the transfer cylinder, positioning, etc., making it difficult to adapt to mass production. .

This can body rotation device is almost similar to conventional curved surface printing in that it uses a holding spindle 25 inserted into the can body as shown in FIG. Accordingly, air is sucked and exhausted so as to reduce the pressure inside the can body using an air pump (not shown), and is thereby held and fixed to the spindle 25, which is the can body.
The spindle 25 is rotated by a pulse motor 31 so that its position can be controlled, and the rotation control of the pulse motor 31 is appropriately performed using a control device such as a microcomputer.

In addition, a laser oscillator is used to focus the laser beam on the surface of the can body, and the laser beam is reflected by a mirror 36 rotated by a galvanometer 35 and swung in one direction. In order to swing the laser beam so that the direction is the same as the central axis of the can container 15, the mirror 3B is installed at a position slightly apart from the spindle 25, and the rotation of the galvanometer 35 that rotates the mirror 3B and the mirror 36 is performed. The axis of motion is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the spindle 25, and the position is twisted vertically, so that when the mirror 36 is rotated by the galvanometer 35, the laser beam reflected by the mirror 36 is directed to the can body. The can body surface can be irradiated along the central axis.

Spindle 25 and galvanometer 3 arranged in this way
5 and the mirror 3B, first perform solid printing on the required part of the can body to be marked or the entire can body, and then perform baking.
The printing ink is applied to the can body and dried, and the can body coated with the printing ink is fixed to the spindle 25 by suction. Then, a sawtooth wave current is passed through the galvanometer 35 to rotate the mirror 3B, and the mirror 36 attached to the galvanometer 35 reflects the laser beam to focus the laser beam on the surface of the can body. Marking is performed by scanning the surface of the can body with a laser beam along the center axis of the can body, and irradiating the laser beam so as to evaporate only the required portion of the solid printing ink. At this time, the laser beam is intermittent so as to irradiate only the part where the lines of characters etc. appear, and the rotation of the spindle 25 for rotating the can body is controlled by the galvanometer 35.
The pulse motor 31 is synchronized with the sawtooth wave current applied to the can body, and the pulse motor 31 is driven to slightly rotate the can body every time one scan of the laser beam is completed.

The rotation angle control amount of the spindle 25 that rotates the can body in synchronization with this sawtooth wave current is approximately φ/, where the spot size of the laser beam is φ and the outside diameter of the can body is R.
By rotating each scan as πR [radians], the scan of the laser beam can be formed as a continuous screen.

Note that the laser power is selected based on spot size and scanning speed, and is capable of evaporating printing ink.
The wattage is set so as not to melt the bare metal of the can body, and is selected depending on the thickness and type of ink. For example, when the scanning speed is 30 m/min, the output is about 25 W.

The application of printing ink is not limited to one layer; instead, multiple layers of printing ink of different colors are applied in advance, and by adjusting the laser output and changing the marking depth, characters of different colors can be applied. It can also be implemented as multicolor printing that displays a pattern or pattern.

Alternatively, the current applied to the galvanometer 35 may be a pulsating current as shown in FIG. 2, and a continuous light beam may be used as the laser beam. In this case, the part where the current increases slowly is the part where the scanning speed is slow and the applied and dried printing ink is evaporated, and the part where the current increases rapidly is the part where the rotation angle of the mirror 3B suddenly increases and the scanning speed is fast. , the part through which the laser beam passes without evaporating the printing ink. If the current applied to the galvanometer 35 is controlled by a combination of a microcomputer and a D-A converter, a control current that matches the character or figure can be easily obtained, and the intermittent control of the laser beam can be controlled. can be made unnecessary.

Furthermore, when carrying out the present invention, if a large number of can containers 15 are pre-coated with printing ink, printing can be carried out by immediately marking the desired characters or patterns in response to an order. Since it does not require the labor and expense of manufacturing printing plates, it is easy to print in extremely small quantities, and it is also possible to print in large quantities with the same characters or patterns.
This printing method is suitable for high-mix, low-volume production.

[Effects of the Invention] Since the method according to the present invention evaporates the applied printing ink using a laser beam, unlike conventional printing, there is no need to manufacture printing plates, making it a printing method suitable for high-mix, low-volume production. In addition, unlike conventional curved surface printing, no external force is applied to the can body to press the can body against the transfer cylinder, so there is no need to firmly fix the can body to the spindle, making it easier to attach the can body. This method facilitates operations such as removal, and since it is a method of scanning a laser beam while rotating the can body, letters or patterns can be displayed on curved surfaces in the same way as marking on flat surfaces. In particular, since the laser beam can be focused narrowly, this method is also suitable for printing minute characters such as serial numbers.
