The present invention relates to a sliding material for mechanical seals, and more specifically, a material having a phobic relationship with the liquid to be sealed and a lubricating property is added to the material of the sliding material to improve sealing performance. In addition, the present invention provides a sliding material for mechanical seals that prevents abnormal wear and has excellent long-term durability. Mechanical seals used in various shaft sealing technologies are designed to seal between the opposing sliding surfaces of one sliding member that follows the movement of a rotating member such as a shaft, and the other sliding member that is attached to a stationary member such as a housing. This structure prevents leakage of the liquid to be sealed. In such a mechanical seal, the smaller the gap between the sliding surfaces, the smaller the amount of leakage of the liquid to be sealed can be suppressed.
The smaller the gap, the more likely dry wear will occur, causing a seizure phenomenon and causing abnormal wear.
On the other hand, when the gap between the sliding surfaces is set relatively large, the liquid to be sealed easily enters the gap and a normal lubrication state can be maintained, but a certain amount of the liquid to be sealed always leaks. cannot be avoided. Mechanical seals must overcome the mutually contradictory problems of improving seal performance and preventing abnormal wear, but until now, fundamental solutions have not been available due to various structural or material reasons. Currently, only one problem has been dealt with intensively. The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and as a result of many years of research by the inventors of the present invention, a material that has a phobic relationship with the liquid to be sealed and has lubricating properties is added to the material. It has been discovered that a sliding material of this type solves the conflicting problems mentioned above all at once. Substances that have a phobic relationship with the liquid to be sealed and have lubricating properties include dimethyl silicone oil, methyl phenyl silicone oil,
Examples include methylhydrodiene polysiloxane and silicone compounds that have hydrophobicity and lubricity, but since the molding process of the sliding material includes a heat treatment process, it is necessary to use a material that does not lose its hydrophobicity and lubricity even through the heat treatment. It is important to be selective. It has also been found that these substances with a viscosity of 100 CS or more are effective, and with respect to the amount added, it is effective when the blending ratio in the total material is in the range of 0.5 to 5% by weight. Hereinafter, when describing one embodiment of the sliding material for mechanical seals according to the present invention, a manufacturing method thereof will be described for convenience. (1) A phenol-based or furan-based thermosetting resin is added as a binder to a carbonaceous raw material powder such as coke, graphite, or carbon black, and the dimethyl silicone oil is mixed at a temperature above the melting point of the binder. etc. are added in small amounts as additives. (2) Next, this stirred mixture is cooled and then ground into powder. (3) Next, this pulverized product is molded into a predetermined shape by pressure molding, injection molding, or extrusion molding, and the molded product is heat-treated at 150 to 350°C. A performance comparison test was conducted between the mechanical seal sliding material obtained from the above process and a conventional example, which will be described below. The test consisted of 1 conventional example (A) and 4 examples (B to E) according to the present invention, a total of 5 points as shown in Table 1.
Stir and mix at 85℃ for 15 minutes at a blending ratio (wt%) of , crush after cooling, and mold at a pressure of 500Kg/ cm
Trial production was carried out by heat treatment at 300°C for 8 hours, and the tests were carried out under the conditions shown in Table 2.

[Table] As shown in the graph of the drawing, the results of this test indicate that the sliding material according to the present invention has excellent sealing properties over a long period of time. As explained above, the present invention is characterized by adding a small amount of a substance that has a phobic relationship with the liquid to be sealed and has lubricating properties to the material of the sliding material. Since the additive is contained in the sliding surfaces and exhibits its properties, it is possible to maintain a good lubrication state while preventing the liquid to be sealed from entering between the sliding surfaces. Alternatively, when various aqueous solutions are used as the liquid to be sealed, the contradictory problems of improving sealing performance and preventing abnormal wear are solved all at once.
