Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of parts and man-hours for mounting and to reduce cost by providing an optical writing unit to the position on the down stream of a photosensitive body and providing an optical writing unit housing as a part of a base cover of a device body integrally therewith. CONSTITUTION:The light which is emitted from a laser unit 21 and flickers according to an image information signal is reflected by a 1st mirror 22 and enters a deflection mirror 24 mounted integrally to a shaft of a scanner motor 23, by which the light is repeatedly deflected in a specified angle range. The deflected light is guided through an f-theta lens 25, a 2nd mirror 26, and a cylindrical lens 27 to a photosensitive drum 1 positioned in the upper part. Main scanning is executed by deflection of the incident light and the auxiliary scanning is executed by rotation of the drum 1, by which the image corresponding to the image information signal is written on the drum. Since the optical writing unit housing 28a is integrally constituted as part of the base cover 28 of the device body, the number of the parts for mounting the housing to the device body and the man-hours for mounting the housing are decreased.

In image recording devices such as laser printers and facsimiles,
Optical writing is performed on the photoconductor via an optical writing unit with a laser beam whose emission is controlled or modulated by an image information signal, and the electrostatic latent image formed on the photoconductor is developed by a development unit. The toner image is transferred to transfer paper fed from an automatic paper feeding unit under the action of a transfer charger, and is fixed and recorded.

The optical writing unit must be housed in a light-shielding housing to prevent unnecessary light, dust, etc. from entering the optical system from the outside, and to prevent unnecessary leakage of laser light to the outside. However, in conventional devices, the optical writing unit is located above the photoreceptor, and the elements that make up the optical system of the optical writing unit are installed inside the writing unit housing, and then attached to the device body base. Since the number of parts for installation increased,
Moreover, the number of man-hours required for installation increases, resulting in high costs.
