Abstract

PURPOSE:To execute clamping by one piece of adaptor by providing two pieces of alignment sleeves and two pieces of ferrules in an adaptor and a plug, respectively, and executing the clamping by detaining a detaining claw of an elastic detaining piece of the adaptor and a recessed part of the plug. CONSTITUTION:A plug frame 2 contains two pieces of ferrules 1 in a floating state, a stop ring 5 is attached to the rear end, and between both 1 and 5, a pressing force is applied to the ferrules 1 with a spring 3. On the outside periphery of the plug frame 2, a control 4 is installed slidably forward and backward, and a hood is installed to the stop ring 5. As for a cabler 10 of an optical code 8, a ring 7 is caulked and fixed to the rear end of the stop ring 5, and an optical fiber 9 is inserted and fixed to the ferrule 1. The plug frame 2 is formed in a channel shape, a hole part 2a for containing the ferrule 1 is provided in front of the upper and lower projecting parts of the front side, and an intermediate part of the upper and lower projecting parts becomes a notch part 2b for containing two pieces among four pieces of elastic detaining pieces.

As stated in the Institute of Electronics and Communication Engineers Technical Report C385-128r Low-Cost, High-Performance Bundle-On Optical Connector, in conventional push-on long optical connectors, a cantilever-shaped elastic locking piece provided on the adapter is locked. The claws are engaged with recesses provided in the plug frame of the plug, thereby maintaining the connection between the adapter and the plug. In addition, by retracting the knob slidably provided on the outer surface of the plug frame, the periphery of the knob lifts the elastic locking piece to release the lock between the locking pawl and the recess, thereby fastening the adapter and the plug. is now being released.

(Problem to be solved by the invention) When applying a conventional single-fiber optical connector that connects only one optical fiber to such an area, each adapter has a flange for easy installation. However, mounting the adapter requires space, making it unsuitable for high-density packaging. Furthermore, since two adapters and two plugs are required, it is uneconomical.

To assemble the optical connector plug of this example, first,
The optical fiber 9 is inserted and fixed into the ferrule 1 by a known method, and the end surface of the ferrule 1 is polished to a mirror finish. The ferrule 1, spring 3, and stop ring 5 are inserted in this order from the rear end of the plug frame 2, and the protrusion 5a of the stop ring 5 is pushed into the hole 2e of the plug frame 2 to fix the stop ring 5 to the plug frame 2. The Kevlar 10 of the optical cord 8 is caulked and fixed to the outer surface of the rear end of the stop ring 5 with a ring 7. Attach the hood 6 to the stop ring 5. Finally, move the knob 4 over the step 2f and the protrusion 2d of the plug frame 2, and then
Push it in until it is located in the opening 4C of the knob 4. With the above steps, the assembly of the plug is completed.

In this case, by providing four elastic locking pieces, it is also possible to insert two push-pull satin plugs,
In addition to connecting two-core plugs, for example, it is possible to insert and connect two single-core plugs on the left side of the adapter and one two-core plug on the right side, increasing the degree of freedom in connection. Further, the number of elastic locking pieces 12 may be two each on the left side and the right side. In this case, the notch 2b of the plug 2 is not necessarily required.

も結合できるので結合の自由度も大きい利点がある。
(Effects of the Invention) As explained above, the optical connector of the present invention includes two alignment sleeves in the adapter, two ferrules in the plug, and the locking claws of the elastic locking piece of the adapter and the four parts of the plug. Since the connection is guaranteed by the locking of the fibers, it is now possible to connect with one adapter, compared to the conventional method that required two adapters to connect two optical fibers. The mounting area of the adapter is small, which has the advantage of allowing high-density mounting of optical connectors. Further, since both the adapter and the plug include two alignment sleeves and two ferrules in one housing, there is an advantage that the number of parts in the housing can be reduced and economy can be achieved. Furthermore, since a single-core optical connector having only one ferrule in the plug can be coupled, there is an advantage that there is a large degree of freedom in coupling.
