Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the vibration of a focus lens by extracting a speed component from an output signal of a detector detecting the movement of an accurate actuator fitted with a focus lens on a coarse actuator and feeding it back to the accurate actuator. CONSTITUTION:A position sensor 5, a differentiation circuit 6, a subtractor 8, a phase compensation circuit 9, a power amplifier circuit 10 and a drive coil 2c constitute a speed control loop. The speed of the focus lens 2a is made '0' with respect to the pickup base 3 by switching the normal tracking servo into the speed control with speed reference '0' during the coarse access operation. In other words, the lens is locked. That is, even when the focus lens 2a is vibrated by the vibration caused during the running of the pickup base 3 or a large acceleration caused by the start/stop of the coarse accessing, the speed is controlled to be '0' by the speed control to suppress the vibration, then the stable tracking servo pull-in is attained after the coarse accessing is finished.

Conventional technology In optical disc players, the position of the light beam is determined by the cooperative operation of a coarse actuator such as a linear motor that drives a pickup base, and a fine actuator that drives a lens mounted on the pickup base. For example, in a normal optical disc player, during an access operation, a coarse actuator first positions the pickup base at an approximate target position, and then a fine actuator that drives a lens mounted on the base directs the light beam to the target position. It is designed to be positioned on the track. However, when the access operation of the coarse actuator becomes high speed, the lens of the fine actuator is shaken due to the acceleration, which causes the problem that the fine actuator vibrates near the target.

On the other hand, it is conceivable to use a neutral point detector of the precision actuator to lock the precision actuator by applying a position servo to the mechanical midpoint, but this neutral point detector has a complicated structure, DC drift and changes over time become a major problem. In order to solve this problem, the optical disk device disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 61-214230 applies position servo by comparing the output of the detector of the precision actuator with the signal held just before access, so DC drift and changes over time are avoided. Although this problem is solved, there is a problem in that a new hold circuit is required and it becomes complicated.

With this configuration, even if vibration occurs due to the coarse actuator moving at high speed for access, the speed reference signal is set to 0 by the action of the speed servo applied to the fine actuator to which the focus lens is attached. The speed of the focus lens can be set to 0, that is, vibration of the focus lens can be suppressed.
