Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an output image immediately after a pressure development by quickening a coloring reaction, by heating a transfer member at the time of the pressure development or after the pressure development. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a photosensitive member 1 is coated with a microcapsule in which a photosensitive substance and a transfer substance are enclosed, and by an exposure by an optical write head, the photosensitive substance reacts and a latent image is formed. On the surface of the photosensitive member 1, the coating surface of a developing substance of a transfer member 5 is superposed and fed out, an unexposed part and the microcapsule on the photosensitive member 1 are broken down by a pressure roller 8, a reaction to the developing substance on the transfer member 5 is executed, and when the reaction is ended, an image is formed. The adhered member 1 and 5 are separated by a tractor roller 9, the transfer member 5 is heated by an infrared heater 12, housed in a tray 11, and the photosensitive member 1 is wound to a roller 3. As for heating, 150-180 deg.C is suitable, and by installing a heating mechanism 13, the completion time of a coloring reaction is shortened.

In the pressure development method of conventional photosensitive transfer type image forming apparatuses, microcapsules with controlled transferability on the photosensitive member are transferred onto the transfer member by applying pressure between the exposed photosensitive member and the transfer member using a pressure roller. When the microcapsules are destroyed, the color-developing substance in the microcapsules and the color-developing substance on the transfer member cause color development to form an image on the transfer member,
There was no one equipped with a mechanism to actively heat the transfer member.

First, an image is written on the photosensitive member 1 by the optical writing head 4 . The surface of the photosensitive member 1 is coated with microcapsules encapsulating a photosensitive material and a transfer material, and the photosensitive material reacts when exposed to light by the optical writing head 4.
A latent image is formed. A transfer member 5 is placed on the surface of this photosensitive member 1.
The transfer members 5 are overlapped by a feed roller 6 so that the surfaces coated with the color developing substance overlap. The overlapping photosensitive member 1 and transfer member 5 are moved by a pressure roller 8 to destroy the unexposed portions and microcapsules on the photosensitive member 1 and react with the color developing substance on the transfer member 5. When this reaction is completed, an image is formed on the surface of the transfer member.

By providing such a heating device 13, the results of experiment 1,
The effect of accelerating the color reaction was observed at temperatures above 40°C, and as the temperature rose, the time required for the color reaction to complete was shortened. There is an upper limit to the heating temperature because if the temperature becomes too high, the quality of the transfer member changes. When the base material of the transfer member was paper, the most suitable heating temperature was 150 to 180'C, and the coloring reaction was completed in a few seconds. Also, the heating temperature range is 1
The temperature may be 00 to 200°C.

A pair of rollers is provided in front of the tray 11, and a heater 12 such as a nichrome wire, an infrared lamp, or a halogen lamp is provided in the roller 14 below the pair of rollers, and the lower roller 14 is heated to pass between the rollers. The image forming portion of the transfer member 5 is heated. The lower roller 14 is made of a metal hollow cylindrical material in order to obtain good thermal conductivity, and its surface is coated with Teflon resin or the like to prevent the image on the transfer member 5 from being offset. The upper roller 15 is made of an elastic material with excellent heat resistance such as silicone rubber, and the heating area of the transfer member 5 is increased by pressing the upper and lower rollers against each other.
