【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は、トナー像支持体をローラから分離す
る分離手段を具備する加熱ローラ定着装置に関す
る。

等が冷え、トナーがローラと分離爪との間で固ま
り、一種の接着剤として作用する。従つて、次に
機械を動かすとき起動トルクが増大する結果とな
つた。これに対し、機械を始動し加熱ローラを加
熱し始めた加熱初期段階では、加熱ローラを停止
させたまゝとし、加熱ローラ表面温度が所定温度
に達して機械が立ち上がり複写サイクルが開始さ
れると、初めてローラが回転するようにしたもの
は既に提案されている。この場合、ローラは充分
に加熱されているので、ローラと分離爪との間に
あるトナーは溶け、その大部分は分離爪に残る
が、ローラ表面にも少量ではあるが付着する。複
写サイクルは既に開始されていてクリーニング時
間が短いので、コピーが定着ローラ対に来るまで
にローラ表面のトナーをクリーニングしきれず、
このトナーがコピーに付着して画像品質を劣化さ
せる結果となつている。

る。5は、トナー像を支持せるシートである。定
着ローラ1には、クリーニングローラ6および分
離爪7が配置されており、クリーニングローラに
はトナー掻落し用ブレード8およびかく掻落した
トナーの受箱9が付設されている。シート5の搬
出側には、排紙ローラ対10が設けられている。

り、その爪先7aには凹部7bが形成され、こゝ
にバイメタル15が取付けられている。第2図
は、定着ローラ1の表面温度が一定の温度(例え
ばトナーの軟化点)に達し、バイメタル15が凹
部7bの内側へ彎曲し、よつて引張ばね13の作
用下に分離爪7の爪先7aが定着ローラ1の表面
に接している状態を示す。

段を具備する加熱ローラ定着装置に於て、上記分
離手段をローラ表面温度に依存してローラ表面に
接離させる手段を設け、この手段が分離手段をロ
ーラ表面温度がトナー軟化点を含むその近傍の一
定温度以上でローラ表面に接触させ、上記一定温
度以下でローラ表面より離隔させることを特徴と
する装置。 2 分離手段が分離爪であり、接離させる手段が
分離爪に設けたバイメタルであり、トナー軟化点
を含むその近傍の一定温度以上ではバイメタルが
ローラ表面より離れる方向に変形することにより
分離爪がローラ表面に接触し、上記一定温度以下
ではバイメタルがローラ表面に接する方向に変形
することにより分離爪がローラ表面より離隔する
ことを特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1項に記載の
加熱ローラ定着装置。 3 ローラ表面に対する分離手段の接離を、ロー
ラ表面の温度制御を行う制御装置の検知素子より
