Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an electronic clinical thermometer which indicates the end of temperature measurement, by attaching a light emitting element, and visually confirming the flickering of light. CONSTITUTION:An electronic clinical thermometer is composed of a main body 6 of the thermometer, a temperature sensitive element 7, a display part 8, a power switch 9 and a light emitting element 10. A system is composed of a control part 11, which controls the system; a temperature measuring part 12, which measures the bodily temperature; a display part 13, which displays the result of the temperature measurement; a driver part 14, which flickers the light emitting element when the temperature measurement is finished; and a light emitting element 15. During the operation of this system, the bodily temperature, which is measured by the temperature sensitive element in the temperature measuring part 12, is converted into display data, and the data is displayed on the display part 13. When the temperature measurement is started, the temperature in the vicinity of room temperature is slowly increased. When the bodily temperature is approached, the result of the temperature measurement is compared. When there is no change of more than a certain temperature for a specified time period, the end of the temperature measurement is judged. An end signal is sent to the driver 14 in order to flicker the light emitting element.

The operation of this system is to convert the body temperature measured by the inner body 12 inside the temperature section 12 into display data and display it on the display section 13.The temperature measurement curve is shown in Figure 5. When the temperature starts, the temperature around the room temperature gradually rises, and when it approaches body temperature, the temperature measurement results are compared, and if the temperature does not change by more than a certain period of time, the temperature measurement is completed and the end signal is sent to the driver to blink the light emitting element.
