A heating zone 4 heated by a radiant tube (or electric heater) 3, a soaking zone 5 maintained at the annealing temperature for the required time, and a cooling rate from the annealing temperature of about 450 to 480℃ based on the metallurgically required cooling rate. It passes through an annealing zone 6 where it is slowly cooled, a quenching zone 7 where it is rapidly cooled down to approximately 90°C or less by being blown with the cold atmospheric gas, and then exits through an outlet 8 after passing through a thermal cycle as shown in Figure 2. .

As shown in FIG. 4B, which is a plan view in the direction of arrow a in FIG. 4A, the component forces due to the crown of the contact surface pressures P 1 and P 2 between the strip 1 and the roll 9 are expressed as Q 1 and Q 2 . Then, from the relationship of the tactile areas, P 1 > P 2 and Q 1 > Q 2 , so a force of Q 1 -Q 2 acts on the strip 1 to return the strip 1 to its normal position.

Therefore, there is a limit to the number of installations, and steering rolls alone have not been able to achieve sufficient effects.

るという欠点がある。 By the way, there is a proper value for the crown amount of the roll, and if the crown is more than necessary, the contact between the roll and the strip will be poor, and the tracking correction effect will be reduced. Furthermore, even when a roll with an appropriate crown is used, the temperature inside the furnace is approximately 850°C in heating zone 4, for example.
Since the temperature of the strip 1 gradually rises from room temperature, the temperature of the strip 1 is still quite low especially near the inlet 2 of the heating zone 4, and near the center of the roll 9 that comes into contact with the low temperature strip 1, heat is transferred to the strip 1. This temperature difference causes a difference in the thermal expansion of the diameter of the roll 9, resulting in a decrease in the crown amount. There is a drawback that an inverted crown occurs in which the diameter of the nine ends is larger than that of the center, which impairs the tracking correction effect.

A method of uniformizing the temperature in the width direction of the roll by enclosing a heating medium and circulating the heating medium; The present invention relates to a roll for a metal strip heat treatment apparatus in which a heating medium is circulated naturally or forcedly.According to the present invention, problems caused by temperature differences as described above can be reduced and good tracking can be ensured.

Although not shown in FIG. 5, a reinforcing material for the roll 9 may be installed inside the roll so as not to inhibit the flow of the heat medium.
Moreover, as shown in FIG. 6, the roll 9 may be made into a double cylinder, in which case the amount of heat medium 20 can be reduced.

Since the heating medium 20 rotates at a peripheral speed of , the heating medium 20 moves as shown by the arrow (i.e., natural circulation ), heat transfer occurs due to the movement of the heat medium 20, and the temperature difference between the high-temperature part and the low-temperature part of the roll 9 decreases.

In this case, an impeller 18 is provided as shown in the figure, and the heating medium 20 is forcibly circulated in the direction of the arrow by the rotation of the roll 9. In addition to receiving heat by radiation from a higher temperature heater (numeral 3 in FIG. 1) or the furnace wall that reflects the radiant heat from the heater, it also receives heat in the radial direction of the roll 9 as shown by the arrow in FIG.
