In recent years, industrial use of radiation has spread to a very wide range of industrial fields, including food irradiation, sterilization of medical instruments, and cross-linking of plastics such as electric wires and shrink tubes. When using these types of radiation, it is necessary to measure and manage the radiation dose using a simple method. So far, the dosimeters used have been cellulose triacetate film (CTA) dosimeters, polyethylene terephthalate film (PET) dosimeters, Examples include polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) dosimeters, polycarbonate dosimeters, blue cellophane dosimeters, and radiochromic dosimeters. Furthermore, there are irradiation discoloration tapes based on polyvinyl chloride.

However, with dosimeters such as CTA, PET, and PMMA1 blue cellophane, it is necessary to measure the absorbance using an ultraviolet absorbance meter or the like after irradiation in order to measure the dose, so it is difficult to say that they are simple dosimeters. On the other hand, PVC color changing tape has 10
At an irradiation dose below Mrad, the discoloration is relatively clear, but when the irradiation dose exceeds 10 Mrad, the sensitivity of the irradiation dose and discoloration becomes dull, so it is effective in relatively low-dose fields such as food irradiation and medical sterilization. , electric wire, shrink tube, etc. 10M
It cannot be used in fields where an irradiation dose of rad or more is required.

The pigment may be any color as long as it changes color depending on changes in pH, but in particular it may be selected from the group consisting of phenolphthalein, methyl yellow, bromothymol blue, bromophenol blue, thymol blue, bromocresol green, and methyl red. By using one or more dyes in combination, the color change caused by radiation irradiation becomes more noticeable.

The purpose of adding the epoxy compound is to control the area of discoloration corresponding to the irradiation dose. In addition, the amount of epoxy compound added varies depending on the dye system used and the setting of irradiation dose and discoloration area. [Example] Example 1 Methyl Yellowa 2.5 PHR for polyvinyl chloride
To the added resin composition, an epoxidized fatty acid ester (oxirane oxygen 40 to 45%) was added as an epoxy compound in an amount of 5.1O115,20PHR based on polyvinyl chloride, and dissolved in butyl acetate to obtain an irradiation discoloration paint. The irradiated color-changing paint was applied onto a polyester film, and after drying, an electron beam of 0.4 MeV was applied at 6.12.24.8, respectively.
It was irradiated with 6.48 Mrad and the degree of discoloration was confirmed. Table 1 shows the discoloration caused by this irradiation. As is clear from this table, the discoloration region shifts to the high dose side in proportion to the amount of epoxidized fatty acid ester added. In this way, it was confirmed that it can be used as a simple dosimeter even in high dose areas.
